The Battle of New York

Hello everyone! Prince (though formerly King but Gilb doesn't want me to

talk about it) Zafri Zackery here, reporting from New York City Town Hall.

I'm here to give the progress report as well as to tell all of you about the

conclusion to the Socialist American War of Independence from the

Dutch East Indies Company. Although, you can probably tell

what happened, since I'm here and all that *giggles*

 

 

 

So...after almost two full days of artillery bombardments, bombings and

mortar strike on the communist-held, New York City. The awesome 

Empress Alexia Beilschmidt stormed into New York City from Yonkers

in the North. At the same time, the Virginian Army led by yours truly,

managed to prevent the reds from blowing up the Brooklyn Bridge. 
We were able to cross and invade Manhattan as well, where the fighting

started as soon as we got there.

 

 

 

 

The fighting was pretty bloody during the first few hours of the attack.

An order from the mighty empress was to not harm any civilians who

are not attacking the army. This led to some quick pushes as entire

streets let them past, with some forced Dutch soldiers joining us as

well. However, casualties were well over 20,000 in total within the

first three hours.

 

 

As the battle continued, the communists started to run low on supplies

and ammunition. Reports came in on entire brigades surrendering 

en masse as troops started fought closer and closer to the town hall,

the de facto parliament building of the socialists. By the afternoon,

the city surrendered, followed by the rest of the country. The 

Governor of New York and Head of State, Itsuki Marude, was 

arrested and executed on the spot, where thousands of Dutch

civilians, forced to work for him, watched.

That evening, the entire Federation celebrated another great

victory made by Empress Alexia, Emperor Gilbert and myself.

After a meeting with the Dutch and meeting Prince Hunter

Beilschmidt, it has been decided that the whole sector is to

be ceded to the Federation as a reward in the war effort.

 

 

A smiling Alexia said today, "The Dutch and the Federation

have been allies and brothers in arms, we will always defend

each other, and we will continue doing so no matter what 

happens."

 

 

Another order was declared by the Empress today, that

any Dutch citizens who want to continue living in the American

states are allowed to do so, and that they are free to change 

their citizenship or not, without any repercussions. Any citizen

who wants to return back to their home country are allowed to

do so. By the first day, almost 65% of Dutch citizens have

applied to change their citizenship and figures continue to rise.

Its kinda ironic that youre sweden when modern day/ real life swedens government doesnt even want its citizens to protect themselves...what a joke! Nice article tho
