Rozalia
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/feb/01/francois-fillon-fights-save-french-presidential-election-bid-fake-jobs-scandal http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/02/01/france-election-2017-emmanuel-macron-marine-le-pen-surge-polls/ France is not often of that much interest to me but with a battle being fought there that can put the final stake through the black putrid heart of the EU and kill the mad beast at last... I'm much more interested. For those not aware the right wing in France decided to run Fillon, a man so to the right he makes Le Pen look like a Communist by comparison. Some thought that good while others didn't as after all how is a left wing person supposed to vote for him over Le Pen when economically Le Pen is far closer to them? The usual "THEY RACIST" as seen in Britain and America don't seem to holding up too well anymore. He has got himself in a spot of trouble and is nosediving. If he remains or subs out for a lesser candidate it seems might be quite irrelevant and the previous no-hoper Emmanuel Macron, a centrist, will take his place against Le Pen. Opinion polls, very scientific polls I'm sure with 99% accuracy, predict he would beat Le Pen. Do you think so? Think he has a better shot than Fillon before he got found out? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_French_presidential_election,_2017 For those interested. Le Pen has lead for quite a while and will likely go into the election leading, perhaps significantly, however due to the French system, the voting share of the losers will have to go to either Macron and Le Pen and that can make all the difference if one can get significantly more support. Macron is a smaller name but can sell himself better to the left wing... however with the Fillon not in there it seems inevitable the right will go to Le Pen so any advantage gained here is quickly wiped out from what I can see. Obviously not a perfect translation here but to crudely sum it up in that manner thats how it looks. WISD0MTREE
Nice pic of Francois Hollande in The Telegraph article. Relevant for all the wrong reasons: "If there were no Frenchwomen, life wouldn't be worth living." -Friedrich Engels
TimbitsNCoffee
Some Analogy after studying the candidates' positions a bit:Le Pen:Nigel Farage. I would call him Trump, but Trump is very tame on legal immigration compared to her. Creeps me out for some reason. Fillion:Nothing really similar to any American. He is fiscally liberal and conservative at the same time, and is socially unbalanced just as much. Also apparently investigated for corruption. Hamon:Bernie Sanders. Flat out identical. Wants to implement a basic income system, legalize weed n stuff, cares about the environment somewhat and wants to reduce the workweek. Name also means "ham" in Spanish. Lol.Melanchon:Retarded brother of Gary Johnson. Liberal Nationalist. Hates NATO, globalization and the EU. Loves welfare, gay marriage and weed. Not sure how to balance a budget with all his social reforms. Flat-out pisshead.Macron:Bill Clinton/Tony Blair. Third-wave kinda guy. Utopian ideas, but sound quite Merkel-esque. Dunno what he's trying to achieve. If I was French I'd probably vote for him.
