Which is better, Discord or IRC?

Really depends on what you're using it for. IRC is better at creating a community, particularly a large one like the Orbis community as a whole. However, if you're talking about developing an already established community, like an individual alliance's community, Discord would be the better choice as it's easier to use, particularly for people who cant get their heads around IRC and complain about it being too difficult. Also mobile access is gold

I'd disagree, IRC keeps it simple.  but offers nothing to building a community. its mere text logs, nothing more, nothing less.

 

While discord. you can set up individual channels for people playing different games or different discussions without having to set up different permissions each times, and is better suited for casual day to day activities.

Discord is crap. It's just another wannabe IRC knock off that people who are too very stupid to handle an IRC client like using.
