Popular Post Fraggle
From The Desk of FireChiefFraggle The Nation of Fraggle Rock **I start this knowing full well that the idea of doing this makes little to no sense to most of the people who will actually read this. In fact, there are people who will not read this at all, comment something for some reason, and the thread will fall off the rails. I know, I know. It's the internet and we all have the attention spans of sea monkeys swimming next to the generously looking genital on the plastic Aqua Man on the bottle of a toilet clogged up with the left overs of a bad night of drinking and eating questionable Mexican food. So if you made it this far, I have your attention and you are more than welcome to read and comment, or take off now, because it's going to get weird quickly. As always I will be in and out of character and will try not to blur the lines too much. I also have no plans to edit this, unless a red line is under a word and I truly want to fix that mistake.** ***One quick aside, I'm not going to either bother to space it properly and it's going to be a huge wall of text. That always pisses off the masses*** And so we start. I get it. It's a game. It's an activity. It's somewhat a social network to meet others who might enjoy the company of others who care to develop different styles of government and whatnot. I get all that. There's a problem. A major problem. Maybe the biggest problem to not only the game, but humans as well. As far as I can see, you people, myself included to a bit, are just living your same shitty life and poor decisions. Your nations are what you really think the world should be? No. You just want to fit in a bit and go along for a ride. Sure sure, you might get along for the sake of getting along, but in all honesty you want to improve your nation, blow off some steam from the outside world, and screw with others, for the enjoyment of doing it. I know that last bit directly describes myself as well. I'm not shot gunning this to everyone....it hits me as well. Not just bird shot, I'm talking slugs, going through us all on that one. That's not the point. Truth be told, none of this is the point. There really isn't a great point, but the last time I checked, there's not a solid point to most things on this world. But the main take away from this is important. May be the most important thing that I may say. I said that to get your attention back, but to be honest the point will only be made when you really consider what some people do and do not do. That's a lot of do and do nots, wait, that's right nots is not a real word, but in this context, it is fine. So to get back to alliances and the people you want to be friendly with. With very little exception, most of you will never meet anyone here. I did there are exceptions. Some are friends before, some make them here and meet up. But the vast majority will not meet. Sure you might fire off a friendly email once in a while, but if and when the Sheepster pulls the plug, you all will scatter across the internet and that's fine. It's all fine. Given to the vast majority of you is a chance to do something that hasn't been done in the world. It's based in theory. You have nothing to lose (unless you're one of the dopes who actually pays for credits, more to come later on about that). You can create a system that can be tested and re tested over time. Instead, it's all pure crap, with people trying to be democracies and dictatorships, and other formal types that barely work in the real world with the best and brightest, but most here are run be under achieving 20 something year old ordering teenagers to pay taxes and fight their fights. It's !@#$ nuts to even think that could happen, and yet it continues. Now back to the whole credit thing.....it's a great way to part money from the people who have no real worries about money. I'm a bit jealous. Congrats, you have made it to the point in life where you spend 20-50-100 bucks a month on a fictional nation that can go away tomorrow. Sure there are more worrisome vices in life, smoking, drinking, eating hamster turds for breakfast, I don't judge your vices. That's all on you. Unless of course you are the type to eat the bowl of evacuated waste from overly cute rodents while getting off on the fact that your nation might break the top 1000 some time this year. There comes a point where it's a bit off putting to have so much division in a world that is fictional. You can't even fake happiness or empathy to others. Unless you're a true sociopath that wants to pretend evil, which in the rare case that you are, which you aren't because a true sociopath would give two !@#$ about this, you shouldn't be as much as a non thinking reject as you are.But you are. And the reason blows my mind. Why does it blow my mind? Because I still can't see the real reason. There is no end game. Nobody wins. Everyone loses if we are treat each other the same way we do in the real world. Shit we do this shit because it's an escape, not a thing to do to pile on more shit in a world where the shit is stacked very high for the vast majority of everyone. And yes I see the irony of the rant well there are some in the world that would love the chance to have the ability to rant on a shitty forum about a shit game who has shit people playing because they can't control their shit life and feel that power through a game is the better. Any well. That willing wasn't the main point when I started 20 minutes ago, but it'll do for now. And now I will take any questions from the community and will try my best to answer them. I would prefer to avoid all game discussion. I will answer any and all life advice questions. Up to you. Heck, you earned it be sitting here and reading this. SoS
This world is no less real than the real world. Sad to say, but it's all pixels. Yeah, you would think that people would do something different with a world with no meaningful consequences. Most of the pain you feel in this world and the other is anticipatory. Fear of something that never materializes. But, I think you've confused a sociopath for psychopath. One is incompetent and the other is incapable in emotions. Anyway, emotions drive this game just as they drive the real world. Why would you expect much difference? It's enough that a few people see that they can do differently. I had lucid dreams for many years and what I learned from that was I can do anything I want to. And I do. People are social animals and their souls (emotions) are evolved to make them fall in line. This is to be expected. You are acting completely in line with predictable, categorized psychology. Your ego is so !@#$ing needy, I could make you do anything I want. Aside from psychopaths, that's the human condition. That doesn't end when you login. You're proof of that. The people in real life are for the most part the players you find here. Sure, you can see their over compensating to make up for their RL shortcomings. Paying if you have plenty is a wgaf deal. If you're broke and paying, that's a sad vice. I used to be well off and paid a lot into these games. Situations have changed and I might pay something for this hobby, but $100/month? No, I have more pressing uses of it. Lyre
idk, the only reason why I like real life more than the internet is because of animals and, in particular, my puppies. I'm a semi pixel-hugger. People die, dogs die, friends leave, and life is less of an adventure and more like a goal to just get a good job and work until you're old and, after that, take care of your children. Everyone you love will die, you will die, and your entire life is forgotten and meaningless and your sole purpose is to get money to pay for your kids and dogs and grandkids and the rest of your nuclear family unit. You work hard for nothing, you strive for nothing, your dreams and hopes are nothing, and when your kids grow up, how many of them actually talk about their own parents? How many grandkids tell their own children about their grandparents? There are a few but I think that it's just a topic that barely gets mentioned since no one really wants to talk about death. Your entire existence is forgotten and all the effort you made in your life for a pre-determined path is for nothing. You fail and you're spurned, you succeed and --- congratulations --- there will billions upon billions of people before, during, and after your life that will have done it and are completely worthless. Games help you forget that for a bit. It's like how people drink alcohol or take drugs to forget their worries. Some people have too many one night stands, others get depressed, and others are...even worse. It's kind of an escape and it's a pretty good one. You forget all those embarrassing moments, the things that you lost, the things you never had, all your regrets and worries. Games make you feel bigger. It gives your mind something to occupy itself on. Sentience is a huge deal and I think that some people, like me, just aren't cut out for something that big. Personally, I just can't stand the entire concept of the death of everyone I know and love, the fear and paranoia, the pain of the emotions and body, and the uncertainty of everything. Games let people live in the moment when they lack the ability to do so in real life. I'm just not as strong as you Fraggle and, until I hopefully mature and age, maybe I could cope with reality lol. I still have a few years before I officially start independent life. Then again, not everyone shares my viewpoint.
Boony
I think y'all are digging too deep. I'm assuming a lot of people who play these games also like history (well at least I do). Reading about past wars and the politics that played out is really interesting. Being a part of it in this game is exciting.
