Administrators Popular Post Alex Posted February 23, 2016 Administrators Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2016 Good news, everyone! More changes for you to love First, I'll address the changes made to military units. This is a small, but meaningful change that is intended to balance the game more in favor of smaller nations that get attacked by larger nations. There are more considerations and improvements to be made, but this is one small step forward to better balancing the game while preserving the tactics and strategy that you all love. The caps based on population for Soldiers and Tanks have been slightly reduced, and limits have been imposed on Aircraft and Ships as well. There are no limits on Missiles, Nuclear Weapons, or Spies. Here are the limits: Soldiers | 15.00% of Population Tanks | 1.50% of Population Aircraft | 0.10% of Population Ships | 0.01% of Population If you average around or greater than 1,000 Infrastructure per city, you'll notice that these caps don't really mean anything. It's a non-binding ceiling, as they like to say in Economics. If you do average less than 1,000 Infrastructure per city, you may run into some troubles trying to max out your units with maximum military improvements in each city. Again, the reasoning for this is that it values population (really, Infrastructure) more, and gives smaller nations with a lot of infrastructure but a low city count a larger edge against big nations with a lot of cities but low infrastructure that may or may not try to attack them. Also note again that this is a small change, and I'd bet > 80% of players will not be effected. --- So what's the other half of the update, you ask? Well, I've made some changes to our Donation system to make it more viable again, in an effort to bring in more donations. The gist of the changes here are: You can now redeem 10 Credits per month instead of 8. Yes, this applies to this month as well, if you have already redeemed 8 credits this month, you have a week to redeem another 2 if you'd like. The discount you get for buying credits in bulk has been reduced slightly. Now, instead of getting $0.50 off per credit for buying in bulk, you only get $0.25. But you are still getting a discount Redeeming a credit for cash now yields $2,000,000 instead of $1,000,000. I think this is a change that was long overdue, and even still likely will not be used as often as selling Credits on the market is. But increasing the cap to 10 will also increase supply, so this will keep prices from going too low, and increase the value of the Credits themselves. There's a new donation option: you can now redeem credits for resources! 1 Credit will get you 500 of your choice of: Steel, Aluminum, Gasoline, or Munitions. This counts against your 10 credit/month limit of course. That's basically it. If you have any questions, of course let me know, but this is honestly a pretty small update in the grand scheme of things. In case you're wondering, what I have in mind for the immediate future are some roleplay improvements, along with a few minor additions to the war system. And, of course, Perks are on the list too 10 Is there a bug? Report It | Not understanding game mechanics? Ask About It | Got a good idea? Administrators Alex Posted February 23, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2016 RIP PP I suspect they'll still be able to do pretty well if they just build enough infra to get out of the range of other nations that can build a lot more than them because of the caps, and in doing so they'll increase their own caps. The intention here isn't to destroy their playstyle, but to narrow the ranges in which it's operable by giving nations with very few cities but lots of infra more of an advantage. 1 Is there a bug? Administrators Alex Posted February 23, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2016 What happens to a nation that's currently over the aircraft cap with the new changes? They can't launch attacks until they sell down or something? No, metro is correct, they just keep and use the planes but can't buy any more. Raiders right about now. They'll manage I think, it just won't be quite so easy. I'm giving them the opportunity to show off how well they can adapt and still be a big nuisance for everyone No limits on spies? No limits on spies, other than the existing 50 cap (and 60 with CIA.) 2 Is there a bug? Report It | Not understanding game mechanics? Ask About It | Got a good idea? Kemal Ergenekon
Very interesting. I think this is a good change, although I was cool with the previous system too. This will make bombing infra below 1000 meaningful.
Ekaterina Kalmyk
I like roleplaying, I'd be interested in roleplay improvements! Could use a bigger character limit on the Factbook, too, hah, but then I write a lot more than the average person, so *shrugs*. Curious to know what Perks will be, too... like Achievements? Just hope it's not a credit-bought option, we don't need this game to become too credit-dependent/pay-to-win. A battle result where both sides lose about the same casualties and there's no infra damage on either side. Popular Post Dimitri Valko
Sheepy, the credit change was not a good idea at all. Now, if someone has a lot of money, and they're bad at the game, they can pretty much win a war that they're already losing. I get that you want money, but this is f**king pay-to-win.
Woot
750-1000 infra minimums works well at the upper tier where most people have 1500-2000. But I implore you Sheepy to look at the very bottom scores where 1000 infra is about the maximum that anyone has - now anything below that is being treated like an exploit even though it's common. I think this makes war very weird in an unintended way below about 4 cities or so.
