  1. Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a short post now that the year is mostly wrapped up. This year has been exciting for P&W, and we've seen a lot of growth. In February we introduced the Alliance Control Panel, making alliance management a little easier. In March, I screwed up and put everyone in the alliance Rose. Two weeks later, you all overloaded the server and caused it to crash because it couldn't handle the huge spike in activity. (We upgraded the server.) In May we introduced some Politics and War merchandise (Politics and Store.) It didn't last long, unfortunately, but I got a couple sweet P&W mugs. In June we upgraded the forum software to IPS4. In July we experienced the "Great Deflation" where I united the players of P&W in their disdain for me reduced resource production and changed commerce. Later, I redeemed myself by introducing the long sought alliance Tax Brackets. In August we celebrated P&W's 3 year anniversary. I also reduced the number of captchas players faced. In September we introduced the Credit subscription option. In October I introduced the verification system, allowing legitimate nations operated by separate persons to play cooperatively on the same network. This has been very helpful for schoolmates, coworkers, and families playing P&W together. Later in October I introduced in-game treaties and fixed up the Treaty Web. And just think month one of the P&W servers died (some sort of hardware failure) but luckily we had a backup taken immediately beforehand and the game was shortly back up-and-running again without a hitch. Along the way, we introduced P&W apps for iOS and Android. While these apps are not great (I am not app developer), they have brought in a huge number of new players. We've gone from about a steady 2,000 active players at the beginning of the year to sustaining 3,000-4,000 active players. Something like 30% of all new players come from the Android app alone. Here's a neat graph of the total number of nations and the active nation count (active within a week) over the course of the year. You'll note the spike in July correlated with the release of P&W on the App and Google Play Stores. Now I've got a few fun stats for you all: Nations Created in 2017 41,038 Alliances Created in 2017 312 Most Viewed Player Ad Most Clicked Player Ad Aggregate Soldier Casualty Count Game-Wide 2,280,521,215 Total Nukes Game-Wide 4,450 Total Nukes Launched in 2017 5,156 Total Number of Wars Won (Since we started keeping track) 6,705 Aggregate Steel Amount in Nations Game-Wide 41,020,000.49 Aggregate Steel Amount in Alliances Game-Wide 8,320,068.73 --- Lastly, I just want to say thank you to everyone who makes the P&W such a great and fun game. It really wouldn't be the same without a strong community behind it. I apologize that I have been less active than usual these past few months, many of you know that I'm in college and I had a particularly tough semester (this past one) which meant more time studying and less time than I would have liked working on Politics & War. However, going forward I should have more time to dedicate to the game, which means more improvements as we move forward. Thanks for playing Politics & War, and enjoy the holiday season. I wanted to note too that we're approaching 100,000 nations created in P&W's lifetime, which will be a huge and exciting milestone. It will also herald six digit nation IDs! Also I want to give a huge shoutout and thank you to all of the wonderful moderators, here on the forums, on the wiki, and Discord for their help. I couldn't do it with you. And thank you to everyone making reports, allowing us to catch cheaters and hold each other accountable for fair and fun gameplay.

  3. We had one global war all year. It was a shit year. I expect next year to be even worse.

  4. Total Nukes Game-Wide 4,450 I see this and do some quick math. I see that one nation controls 15.89% of those nukes. Not a single mention of that? Not only did the game fail this year, but you failed to recognize how the world will end. Sad! Fake News! Tax Cuts! Sad!

  5. Adding tax brackets in no way redeemed you for the screwing you gave low and mid tier nations with your resource and commerce changes.

  9. In-game wise I gotta agree with Sketchy - 1 global war in 2017 is absolute shit. Then again (no matter how many excuses one tries to make), that's the players' - namely weak alliance leadership - fault. Alex isn't perfect, but being a game admin and pleasing so many players, all of them with their particular expectations, is anything but easy. What this game needs is alliance leaders such as the likes of Partisan, Pre and Roz at the helm of major alliances. Please don't stop caring about P&W, Alex, and thanks for this game (whoever is unhappy with it, just stop !@#$ing and moaning and go play something else). Making your own fun in this game is not hard at all.

  13. Wonder whether that would’ve worked for HBE. Instead you had the salty machine known as hades representing your alliance.

  14. And unfortunately for the Republic, the First Order spy managed to get away because by the time the Republic had figured out what happened, he was gone. New orders were issued: It was on again with the First Order and this battle would soon be decided. Lock and load!

  17. Thanks for all you do @Alex. I remember when I first found the game back in March 2016. Remember when you deleted my entire families accounts? Lol. Thanks for the game and hard work!

  23. This comment proves my point. I could be offended, but I am not. I find it somewhat amusing actually. If anything a leader worth his weight in salt ( in his knowledge and opinion) provides for a welcome challenge for a good FA. Being popular requires keeping everyone happy, which is fine if that is what one wants. The drawback, however, is that in order to keep everyone happy, one becomes a follower entirely. No risk, no unique standing. If HBE has a fault, it is in the area of our leadership (myself included) having enough time and frankly interest in Orbis. That is a problem on our end that we should work to change. However, it is far from the BS any of our enemies try to spin. Hail the Hades Bot Empire!

  25. How precisely do alliances bribe their own members and how can I get on this gravy train of bribery? As a deeply corrupt person always willing to sell myself to the highest bidder, I'm genuinely curious.

  27. http://ktla.com/2017/12/20/confirmed-explosion-reported-in-restaurant-near-hollywood-and-highland/ My friend used to work there, well friend and his friend. It's the place we'd walk in and get discounted pitchers and show up so !@#$in high and drunk. So many !@#$in' lit stories. Used to be the !@#$ that would set the jukebox to 3hrs of classic heavy metal that would make your face melt. First place I left with a thot's number and lost my first debit/credit card. 30. The Nuclear Dragon Pact Upon Advanced Idea Mechanics conception, their desire to be the forefront of militaristic research became immediately clear to The Seven Kingdoms. It was a delightful surprise when King Brooklyn666 was alerted by his secretary, Squeegee, that AIM was in fact interested in a partnership. “You protect us, we supply you with research”. With the protection of The Seven Kingdoms and her men offered, an alliance between SK and AIM began to form. Brooklyn666 agreed, but with one major caveat: dedicate a research facility to Nuke Toting Dragons military development specifically for SK and her men. Having agreed to these conditions, the two partners got to work. Fast Forward “Listen Captain Bezzers, we came to AIM hoping for some new technological achievements to aid us in military conquest- what have you got for us?” Clover stated. “Hmm….You guys got Dragons, right?” Captain Bezzers asked Brooklyn666. Hesitantly, Brooklyn666 replied: “Yeah... why?” “Hold my Ale” Bezzers belted blissfully with a belch. Queue montage of AIM associates strapping live nukes to the back of Dragons “That ought to do it” Thomas said, patting Captain Bezzers and Brooklyn666 on the back. Upon achieving the goals set for Nuke Toting Dragons military development, AIM and SK have decided to go beyond their initial business relationship to enter a pact of friendship and militaristic cooperation. Article I: Business Mixed With Pleasure The Seven Kingdoms and Advanced Idea Mechanics come together in a Mutual Defense Pact and from here on will be known as “the signatories”. Article II: Lasers and Nuclear Dragons If one of the business associates comes under attack by a large threat, their comrade in commerce is obligated to help them. However, if the associate under attack feels it is not necessary they can ask their comrade to sit out. Article III: Keeping Trade Secrets Should either signatory obtain potentially threatening information about their colleagues, they must send a detailed fax with the goal of keeping both parties best interest in mind. Article IV: Shredding the Contract If either of the signatories feel as though they no longer benefit from their partnership they may consult their legal teams to terminate the contract, giving 72 hours notice upon doing so. Seven Kingdoms: Brooklyn666 Clover Squeegee Valdoroth iTorchic Callum Advanced Idea Mechanics: Captain Bezzers Thomas Dillon A McCann Arthur Dayne Arkiri Arch (PS. Squeegee threatened to eat my firstborn child if he doesn't get to be the one to post KT-SK scroll, and Bezzers wrote a story behind KT-AIM tie so it would be kinda lame to post instead of him.. so, AIM/SK thought it would be lame to leave us without posting honours.. so the geniuses came up with the idea that it would be hilarious to have KT post SK-AIM upgrade (please clap and laugh they're holding a gun against my head) PPS. Yes this is legit PPPS. That would be all)

  33. Alliance name: The failures Color: It doesn't matter, all players are beige or grey Flag: The point of this alliance is to be the worst ever, we like players with a stupid nation setup and players with a lot of negative forum rep, we start a blitz doing fortify, we only do utter failures, our nations have negative revenue, we use nukes on 300 infra cities, we buy credits for 8M and then we redeem the credit for 5M, we declare war to Grumpy with all the nations under 1000 score and then the entire alliance goes into vacation mode, we are the ones who are not moved to Rose, we have 40 improvements slots all used for wind power, we have uranium enrichment program as first project and our nation in located in Europe, we do spy operations to terrorize civillians, things like that Protectorates: Arrgh Everyone can join
