As unrest begins to rise over going to war once more, the Lunar government has decided to pull out of the conflict and pact.
President Cressida Arpina cites the recent war as "an act of warmongering."
On the morning of August 2, 2083, a notice was issued that the Republic of Luna would be withdrawing from the Treaty of Denon, signed only days ago.
President Cressida Arpina states that this immediate withdrawal is due to the fact that it was perceived as primarily a defensive pact against the USSR, but anti-communist attitudes by other signers and unrest over yet another war have sparked a general consensus in Luna that the nation should no longer be in the Treaty.
"It was a mistake to sign in the first place," Arpina said in an interview with Lunar Post reporters. "We weren't sure about it at the beginning, but we were convinced that the treaty would be regarded as a defensive pact in case any of us were attacked. However, it is clear that other members of the pact want an end to all communism as much as they say they don't to get us on their side — and they will do anything to get it. We are allied with communist nations and do not see the issue unless they become dictators trying to overtake others' territory, and we will not be a part of this."
Additionally, there have been numerous protests in the Lunar capital of Arcadia over Luna being pulled into another war. After a period of relative peace, many citizens feel that the nation is not yet ready for another conflict.
"The Treaty of Denon is an act of warmongering in and of itself," said a citizen who preferred to remain anonymous. "We've been in far too many wars in our few years of existence. Of course, war is all too common, but they've all been catastrophic. The constant bombings, bioweapons, nuclear bombs — it's all going to happen all over again."
Vice President Aurelia Aquilla spoke to many protesters about the war herself, explaining the government's actions and asking what the people would like to see in terms of their next steps.
"What I generally heard was, well, two things. First of all, peace. We need to end the war and remain peaceful unless it is to defend one of our allies against hostility. We have recently rebuilt it all and can't risk losing everything again. Second, the Treaty of Denon is clearly anti-communist and not what we as a nation need to be involved in. Many people said that, as a nation that is very closely allied with communist nations who are not members of the USSR, it has been found clear that the pact, while saying it is simply an anti-USSR pact, is truly anti-communist as a whole," Aquilla said.
The general consensus among Lunar citizens is that the war needs to end, and Arpina's statement to foreign leaders regarding this matter has also included a declaration of neutrality in this conflict.
"We are a war-torn nation, damaged by the horrors of conflicts from the War of Skill Issues to the Green War just recently," Arpina said in the statement. "We will not put up with another war, especially not one in a pact that puts on a facade of being against USSR expansion when, in reality, we know they want our friends and allies, too, to fall, simply for being communist nations, even if they are democratic. We will not stand for this any longer and choose to leave the war — and the Treaty of Denon."

Death to Luna.

Isn't it clear, Arpina? Just because the Treaty of Denon didn't specify communism doesn't mean you shouldn't join it. Fighting a war against the USSRz would all be beneficial to the world. It would also be less likely for a USSRz bombing or invasion of your homeland.
Stop the wining and get to the frontlines!

How about you try.

You think you're going to get nuked? The USSRz holds 0 nukes in total. You're the one with the nukes, they should be afraid of YOU! Not the opposite. And anyways, I have missile defenses and crap in your country and Northern Scotland.
